We share stories and change the understanding of poverty
For each of our public launch events, we have been exploring new ways to tell the real stories of people living in poverty in Morecambe Bay.
We are also documenting our current round of the commission with a series of films that will tell the story of the entire process from the recruitment stage to project delivery.
You can find all launch content and films devised by our community commissioners below.
Voice of Change: The Story of Morecambe Bay Poverty Truth Commission Round Two
Round two launch films
In the lead up to the public launch of round two, we made a series of films looking at each of the issues faced by our community commissioners.
The films were an opportunity for our commissioners to tell their stories on their own terms, uninhibited by the usual anxieties of public speaking.
During this period we wrote a poem together that became our mission statement called ‘The Truth Tellers’ and its film is the lead one here.
Round one launch film
After eighteen months of steering group activity and a further six months of preparation from community commissioners, the launch of our first round was held at Lancaster Town Hall on the 6th of July 2018.
The launch was incredibly powerful for everyone in attendance and its shockwaves are still having an effect years later. We are truly indebted to our community commissioners for their bravery and their devastating contributions on this day.
Round one zoom chat shows
During the pandemic, we had to find new ways of communicating with each other and telling our stories.
We produced this series of ‘chat shows’ with the national Poverty Truth Network to broadcast the commission’s progression and share some of the many amazing outcomes that it delivered and continues to deliver.
